ASP Health Delivers End-to-End Remote ROSE at Hospital Oncológico in Puerto Rico

ASP Health is proud to announce the successful clinical implementation of its comprehensive End-to-End Rapid On-Site Evaluation (ROSE) solution at Hospital Oncológico in San Juan, Puerto Rico. This milestone represents an important step forward in enabling high-quality, efficient cytology support through fully remote workflows.

The implementation was achieved through strong collaboration between ASP Health, Hospital Oncológico, and Puerto Rico Pathology. ASP Health extends its sincere appreciation to Dr. Luis Gerera, Dr. Víctor Carlo, and the dedicated clinical and operational teams at both institutions for their leadership, coordination, and commitment to innovation throughout the rollout process.

At the core of this deployment is ASP Health’s integrated ROSE platform, designed to support diagnostic accuracy while reducing the operational burden traditionally associated with on-site cytology. Using the ROSE Prep™ system, pulmonary nurses were able to prepare cytology samples directly within the bronchoscopy suite, enabling faster turnaround times and a more streamlined procedural workflow. This approach minimizes specimen transport delays and allows clinical teams to operate more efficiently at the point of care.

In parallel, ASP Health’s ROSE View™ remote-controlled microscope enabled Dr. Víctor Carlo to perform real-time adequacy assessments remotely from his pathology office. The system provides high-resolution visualization and precise remote control, ensuring that diagnostic quality is maintained while allowing pathologists to support procedures without being physically present in the bronchoscopy suite.

Together, these technologies delivered a true end-to-end remote ROSE workflow, effectively removing the need for on-site cytology personnel while preserving the high standards of real-time diagnostic support required for pulmonary procedures. This model offers hospitals greater flexibility in staffing, improved utilization of pathology expertise, and the ability to scale services without compromising patient care.

“The successful implementation at Hospital Oncológico demonstrates how remote ROSE can be seamlessly integrated into clinical practice,” said ASP Health. “By combining on-site sample preparation with remote adequacy assessment, healthcare systems can expand access to expert cytology support and improve operational efficiency.”

ASP Health remains committed to advancing digital pathology and cytology solutions that empower clinical teams, optimize workflows, and enhance diagnostic care across diverse healthcare environments.
