ASP Health recently exhibited its complete ROSE workflow solution at the ASCT (American Society of Cytotechnology) conference held in San Diego, on May 17-18, 2024.
The ASCT is a premier organization for the cytology community and is a collective voice for the cytotechnology field. It develops practice standards, and it monitors and evaluates regulatory issues and emerging technology that affect the community. ASCT also provides unique, practical, and educational opportunities pertinent to the practice of cytotechnology.
ASP Health has been partnering with the ASCT community for over two years to showcase its automated sample preparation system. At this conference, ASP Health for the first time demonstrated a complete workflow solution that involved both their automated sample preparation system, ROSE Prep™ pro, and a remote-controlled microscope system that can be operated from an on-site location. The clinicians visiting the ASP Health exhibit were thoroughly impressed with this implementation of a complete ROSE workflow as it will allow the cytology team to offer ROSE services without having to be physically present in the procedure suite.
Several cytotechnologists and cytotechnology lab managers also mentioned that this complete workflow implementation will significantly save them time. It will help to optimize their resources while offering the same level of ROSE support to interventional pulmonologists, gastroenterologists, and endocrinologists.
One of the issues with implementing ROSE in a hospital is the lack of meaningful reimbursement versus the amount of time needed to be in the OR/bronchoscopy suite during the FNA procedure. This critical issue was discussed at the ASCT conference, and many cytotechnologists mentioned that the new ROSE workflow that included ASP Health’s ROSE Prep™ system will allow them to save significant costs in this low reimbursement era.
